Vintage and ribbons.... another great Challenge!

My friend Jenny from WEE MEMORIES (http://suchins.blogspot.com/) is having a challenge using vintage and ribbons. Here it is:

The challenge: To make a card, scrapbook layout or altered item using the theme - Vintage & Ribbons. Please incorporate ribbon in to your project. You are welcome to use any color for this challenge.  Those of you who's style isn't really vintage, you may submit projects using Ribbon! The more ribbon the better!

How to play: Just link your project below or to the SCS gallery with the keyword WMC2 ... that simple! :)

The prize: Lots and lots of beautiful ribbon in a variety of colors. Lots of ribbon here to make some beautiful projects with!! I will be throwing a little surprise in with these when I send it off to our winner.

Deadline: The deadline for this challenge is next Friday, April 23 at 11:59 PST so make sure your entries are in before then. The winner will be announced on Saturday, April 24.
Here is my version of the challenge. I used Webster Pages and made my own flowers made out of raffia ribbon. I love how the colors turned out.

Happy Wednesday! May the joy of the Lord be your strength today!

Scrap it with a song!!!!

There is a new blog with a challenge that I find so unique! It's called "Scrap it with a song": http://scrapitwithasong.blogspot.com/. This is how it works: Each week there will be a new song posted for you. Let the lyrics inspire you to create. Choose a particular lyric for your title, journaling or overall theme of the layout. You are also welcome to create something besides a layout!!! The song this week is "Your Song" by Elton John.

There is a part of the song that says: "But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song. It's for people like you that keep it turned on". Once again I had the perfect picture for this challenge! I took  it during our Christmas vacation in northern Georgia and  I had to dedicate it to the love of my life!

Liz Qualman's weekly sketch

This week's sketch from Liz Qualman is awesome! You can visit her and see her guest designers  here: http://lizqualman.blogspot.com/.

This is my take of the sketch. I am so in love with these colors after I finished the apron!!!!! They were just perfect for more of Danny and Lexie's wedding. I also made some more ribbon flowers.

Donna Downey Canvas Apron and Maya Road Chipboard Suitcase

Happy Monday everyone! Hope y'all had an amazing and restful weekend.  I can't wait to share with you the projects I have been working on the last few days. These are actually the two classes I will be teaching at Paper Niche in Ft. Lauderdale on May 29. One of them is the Donna Downey Canvas Apron. Tammy and I chose the most beautiful collection of ribbons!!! The entire apron is done in beige, turquoise, pinks and browns. All the flowers are my own creation. I stamped the leaves and then embroidered them. The center is also stamped and participants will have the choice to write whatever they want. Hope you like it!

The next class will be Maya Road's chipboard suitcase and  journal. I used Webster pages, stamps, laces, etc. I also used Maya Road words from A to Z.  It will be a long class but I know everyone will learn a lot and have lots of fun. They will also have a choice of what to engrave in the front of the suitcase and their journal using Melody Ross Chip Art tools.  Here it is:

"Once Upon a Time" Cricut Pages

This is a cricut class I will be teaching tomorrow at Paper Moon. I used Story Book and Paper Dolls Dress up Cricut Cartridges for most of the cuts. The road and  the trees are free hands. The top is the new Basic Grey doily from Green at Heart line. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend! Happy Friday!

Creative Scrapper's sketch

Creative Scrapper's (http://www.creativescrappers.blogspot.com/) sketch this week is very nice. I scrapped a picture of my husband which I love. I took it when he "patiently" came into my studio to help me cut some things. Here it is:

This was done with Chip Art by Melody Ross tools. I can engrave many, many things and then paint them to fit my work. Awesome! Happy Friday! Have a blessed and wonderful day with His joy in your hearts.

How to make your own Doily

Good morning every one! It is an honor and  pleasure to be a "Sassy Lady" and I want to thank Sheila for inviting me to be part of her amazing blog venture. My demo today is about "making your own paper doily".

Cut a 9" circle.

Cut 2" strips of another paper. I cut 4 and had left over pieces.

Ink the edges softly.

Cut every two scallop. Fold them in half as if you were making a pleat.

Start gluing them unto your circle. Make sure they overlap, this way  you can follow the "circle shape".

This is what it looks like when you have glued them all the way around.

I sewed it with a zig zag stitch.

This is what it looks like after you sewed it. I did it about 1/4 ' from the edge to give it more dimension.

Voila! This is the page I made with my "handmade Doily". Hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Do no hesitate to write to me if you have any questions at: beatrizguzman58@yahoo.com. Please visit Sheila at http://shesasassylady.blogspot.com/ for more amazing tutorials. Happy Wednesday!

Chip Art and a music challenge!

This is what I made today with my new toy!!!!!! As I posted earlier, I bought the coolest kit ever to emboss  chipboard called "Chip Art from Melody Ross". This is part of the cover of a project I am working on to teach in Ft. Lauderdale next month. If you like to play with techniques, this is something you want in your scrapbook kingdom. It is not cheap but it is worth every penny.

This page is created with my April Kit from Paper Poppy Kit Co. (http://paperpoppykitco.blogspot.com/)
They are having their first Challenge. This is what Aphra wrote:

This month's challenge is a recipe. Yep, a dash of this and a dash of that, but with a scrappy twist.Your layout must include the following:

1. Use the colors black and white
2. Use a music symbol
3. Use song lyrics in your title

This is my version:
I used Prima stamp on 3 of my paper blocks on the left, used the ribbon to make the flower, glass beads to embellish the center of the flower  made with pink pipe cleaner, a corner of the chipboard tile covered with "real" music paper, Maya Road music notes were painted in black and pieces of my leftover papers from BG.

This recipe was SUPER PERFECT for my picture!!!!! My father in law (85 years old) sang  a very beautiful song written in 1925 by Irving Berlin called "Always" to Danny and Lexie on their wedding day. I just love how it turned out. Happy Tuesday again!

Chip Art by Melody Ross

My package came today!!!!!! I bought the starting set for the Chip Art from Melody Ross. I can't wait to play with it.... I am crazy about chipboard because of its multiple uses.  Happy Tuesday!
