Fan Blade Sizzix Quilting Die

Good morning!  Another Sizzix Quilting Die that I'm playing with is called Fan Blade.  For paper I used pages from an old Hymnal that I've had forever.  I combined it with some fabulous black doilies that I found at Jo-Ann's.

I added some embellishments.

Here is the two-page layout I made.

I designed this next layout for Treasured Memories in Lafayette, La last month, using the same die.

Have a great and blessed day!

Sizzix Quilting Dies

Good morning!  Hope you had a great weekend.  I've been using the Sizzix Quilting Dies and loving them every minute.  They work in the Cuttlebug or Vagabond and the possibles are endless as to what you can do with them. I will be featuring layouts I've made with some of them this week.  Today I am showing you the small and large Dresden Plates.

I used the small Dresden Plate die to make flower petals for this first layout.  This die cuts three petals with each pass through your machine.

These are the bigger petals you get with the large Dresden Plate die.  It cuts two with each pass.

I will have more layouts to show you this week with some of the other quilting dies.  Plan on coming back to see them!

Have a fabulous and blessed Monday!

I wish you a wonderful and blessed weekend!

I'm in Need of an Animal Lesson

Good morning!  I now fully understand that I am what you would call a "city girl".  We made plans to take my niece and grandson to the Teaching Zoo at the local Community College.  I made this layout ahead of time thinking of Andrew and the photographs I was going to take of him at the zoo.

The first clue that I didn't have a clue was when we went to pick up Andrew and found that our daughter had dressed him up in a safari outfit!  When we got to the zoo, there were monkeys, parrots, alligators, Galapagos tortoises, emus and so on.  I asked a couple of the students who were working there where they kept the cows, goats, pigs and lambs.  They looked at me like I was from another planet and said "Ma'am, this isn't that kind of zoo."

So here's Andrew is telling me "Grandma, don't you know the difference between a real zoo and a petting zoo?"

I promise I will do my homework next time!  Until then, have a happy, fabulous and blessed day!

Gratitude

Good morning!  I labeled this layout "Gratitude" when I started writing this blog.  As soon as I typed the word, it hit me... I have never felt such a gratitude towards God than today.  This past weekend we got to see our son, Danny, in Atlanta as he played baseball there with the AAA Yankees.  We saw him pitch two amazing innings.  He retired every batter he faced.  We spent the weekend shopping, walking, eating, & talking.  Since we took Andrew with us, Danny got to see him too.  None of us had seen Danny since March.  On Monday afternoon, Danny was unexpectedly traded to the Seattle Mariners.  This will be his 4th move this summer.  All of these moves might seem unsettling, but we are grateful that there have been all of these opportunities for him to do what he loves to do most.

This is my "Gratitude" layout using Teresa Collins papers.

You can see more details here.

This paper says "Gratitude, live with gratitude".   I sure don't write enough about what I am grateful for.  I will start tomorrow, especially about the small things in life, the everyday things that we take for granted.

Sorry that I have been somewhat melancholy today, but if you are a mom you will understand my heart.  No matter how grown up our kids are, they are always our babies at heart.  Enjoy your loved ones today and hug them for no reason at all.  Have a great and blessed day!

Wedding Layouts

Good morning!  Hope you had a wonderful weekend.  This post is dedicated to our beautiful daughter Valerie.  She is celebrating her 5th wedding anniversary this coming weekend.  She married her high-school sweetheart, George, after 10 years of courtship and dating.  Today they have a beautiful baby boy named Andrew.

These are some of my favorite pictures.  Valerie wore the very same veil that my own mother put on me 33 years ago.

Valerie will always be Daddy's baby girl.

I love this picture because it was taken right after the party was over and they were just relaxing on the couch.

I designed this layout using Webster papers, Prima bling and tons of flowers and lace.

I layered this wedding carriage three times and embellished it with lace, flowers and pearls.

I used MLYB wedding papers for the next layouts.

Have a great and blessed day!

Happy Friday!

Good morning! I can't believe it's Friday already....this week just flew!  Today I am sharing a layout which I love.  The papers are from Canvas Corp and I embellished it with very rustic items such as burlap, rope and flowers of many textures.

You can see more details right here.

We are babysitting our 6 month old grandson Andrew for four days.  Somehow he "got into" my pink ribbons and tape gun.  Against my husband's wishes, I am putting this photo up on the blog.  He says that the next time, his parents will put him up in the kennel rather than have him suffer this kind of indignation at the hands of a scrapper with WAY too much time (and ribbon) on her hands!!!

Have a wonderful, safe and blessed weekend!

Good morning!  I am back after a week with an amazing group of friends.  Seven of us drove to Lafayette, Louisiana for a yearly scrapping event sponsored by Treasured Memories.  This year's theme was "Hawaiian".  The event was held at the Cajundome Convention Center and there were over 250 scrappers all under one roof!!!

This was part of our table decorations.
