I'd Rather Be Scrapbooking

Good morning and happy Monday!  I'm back from my weekend in Alabama with the Hive and what a great time (as usual) we had.  Andrew and Carolina slept over last night.  Andrew asked me what I was doing in Alabama.  I told him that I was there working making scrapbook pages.  His response was "Lita, that's what you do all the time so it's not really work."

Someone once said "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."  They were right!

Thanks for visiting today.  Have a wonderful and blessed day.

Fore!

Happy Friday! Are you ready for the weekend?  I am spending mine in Alabama with the Hive.

You may wonder why I post pictures of my family apart from the layouts. Well, I have a few reasons behind the madness.... the activities of my family inspire me to design my Kits/layouts. They do all kinds of things and are everywhere with their children so the inspiration is endless. Second, they do not print any of their pictures! I do and I scrap most of them. Third, I find myself using my blog almost as a journal. I do know they read it daily and get very happy when they see themselves in it. So today I'm doing it again. Here's a layout perfect for their many golf  pictures.

This is our son Danny in a golf store in Tokyo during Christmas break. He was like a kid in a candy store!!!!

Here's Danny and his wife Lexie enjoying a day at the golf course.

Have a fabulous and blessed weekend. See ya on Monday!

Professor Andrew

Good morning!  Yesterday was open house at Andrew's pre-school.  They selected him to be a "teacher" who would show visiting parents  the things that they were learning.  He told us that since he was going to be a teacher, that he had to dress up for the part.  Here's what we got.

Here he is in the math room showing us how they do division.  (The colored pencils are very important for his calculation method.)

And here he is with Carolina before leaving for school.

Here's the layout where I'm going to put these pictures.  I made this one last year.

Hugs Are Better Than Bugs

Good morning and happy Tuesday (I think).  My son took his family to the San Diego Zoo this past weekend on a family outing.  Normally, that would be a good thing.  However, they ended up at a demonstration where they got to eat real INSECTS!

I don't mind telling you that I find this totally NASTY and DISGUSTING!  On top of that, they felt the need to send me pictures!  UGGH!!!

OK.  Now IF I was going to print these pictures out and IF I was going to scrap them, I already have the perfect page from a few years ago.  Here it is.

So many of my friends say that I always have the perfect scrapbook page for any occasion. I'm beginning to think that they're right.  Thanks for visiting my blog today.  Have a wonderful, blessed and bug-free day!

Max & Ruby

Good morning and happy Monday!  I hope that you all had a great weekend.  I went with my daughter & family to Orlando for the weekend, visiting Disney World on Saturday and a tea party at American Girl for Carolina's 3rd birthday yesterday.

Here is a new layout and kit of mine titled Max & Ruby.  It features brother & sister rabbits named Max & Ruby.  They have a very entertaining cartoon show on Nickelodeon.

New President

Happy Friday!  Well, the day has arrived when our country has a new President. Welcome Mr. Trump! As a follower of Christ I remind myself of Romans 13:1-2:

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist Have been appointed by God. Consequently, the one who resists authority is opposing what God has set in place, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.…

I made this layout back in November when my husband and I went to vote. I think it's perfect for today as well! I will try to replicate it and print some pictures of today's events. I know that my grandchildren will appreciate this memory 20-30 years from now.

I designed this layout for Treasured Memories last fall. Janet designed the title from scratch! You can actually buy it as a kit from trmemories.com

Have a wonderful, fun-filled, and blessed weekend!

Ice Cream Night

God morning and happy Thursday!  Once in a while Andrew & Carolina spend the night at our house.  This was the case this past Sunday as Monday there was no school.  As a treat we took them out for ice cream.  Suffice it to say that we (the kids & me) were the only ones in the ice cream parlor in jammies.

Here we are out front of the store.  The red & green lights are from a laser projector.  The lights fly all over the place and they try to "catch" them.  Looks like I have a green belly button!

Here's the giant ice cream cone they have out front.  See how they've had to chain it down to keep people from taking off with it?  After all, we live in a college town and there are always pranksters.

Here's a great layout for these pictures, because we are truly blessed beyond words.

Mixed-Media Scrapbook Layout

Happy Wednesday!  Hope your week is going amazing.  Mine has been quite busy but fun so far.
As you know, mixed media is one of the latest trends in the industry.  I've been taking classes lately at a local store and have enjoyed them very much.  This was the last project we did.  I am using an art journal which is 8½" x 11".

As you can see here, these are layers and layers of paint using stencils, stamps, different inks and papers.

I wanted to make a two-page layout incorporating these techniques.  I got some 12 x 12 cardstock that looks "altered". Then I found this awesome paper pad by Jane Davenport at Michael's that had the colors that I wanted.

I started layering and playing with papers, paper distresser and some markers.

Voila! Here is my mixed-media layout. Don't be afraid of color and layer, layer, layer! (That's my motto every time  I touch paper.)

Hope you enjoy today's inspiration and venture to play with all your goodies. Have a wonderful and blessed day!

Graphic 45 Nature Sketchbook Collection

Good morning!  Do you like Graphic 45 papers?  Then you will love one of their newest collections called Nature Sketchbook.  I designed these 4 layouts for Cootie-Coo Creations.  They are available as kits and you can get them all directly from them.  Their phone number is (386) 454-8008 and you can speak with Sharon.

It's a lot of "fussy cutting" but that's part of the beauty of these papers.  The more you cut and layer, the prettier they look.  Of course, I used a gazillion  pop dots!  Hope you are inspired to take pictures of nature and scrap them with these papers.  Have a wonderful and blessed day!

Birthday Party

Good morning! Hope you had a lovely weekend. We celebrated our grandchildren Carolina and Andrew's birthdays with a party at a local park. Andrew turned 5 a week ago and Carolina will be 3 on Sunday.

Andrew chose the octopus, his favorite animal,  for his pinata and cake and Carolina chose Peppa Pig for hers. They even dressed accordingly, so cute!  Here are some pictures of their special day.

The octopus pinata made by hand by my talented daughter.

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday the 13th with a full moon in the sky!  I'm glad that it's January and not October, right?

Our son is at the 3rd annual golf and poker tournament for the Major League Baseball Players Association Players Trust at the MGM Grand Hotel of Las Vegas. The tables were full of players from the past and present, the cause was righteous, and the end result was a lot of fun. The poker tournament took place the night before the annual golf tournament for the Players Trust, a charitable wing of the union that was established in 1996 and gives back to communities with programs such as Buses for Baseball, which brings underprivileged children to MLB stadiums, Action Teams that work with high schoolers to volunteer in their communities, and global international disaster relief.

He won 1st place in the Poker Competion! We knew he has many qualities and abilities but we are not so sure about this one. We are soooo happy that it was for charity!  Hopefully he doesn't feel the need to change his name to something like Slick or Ace or Florida Slim.

2017 winner

And here are some perfect layouts for these pictures!

Black and Yellow

Good morning!  I hope that your week is going well so far.  I'm getting ready for Andrew and Carolina's birthday party on Saturday and a mixed-media class on Sunday!

Here is a layout with a great combination of shades of yellow and black.  This is becoming very popular.

Masculine Layout

Happy Wednesday! Hope your week is going great so far. I've been dealing with vertigo (again!!!) and that is NO FUN! My DH offered to make me a large turntable and that whenever my head starts spinning I get on and he'll spin me the other way to cancel it out.

This lovable clown had a birthday on Sunday.  We took him out for a lovely dinner. I was thinking about a layout for the photos when I remembered my boy stamps! Even though this boy is not even close to be as handsome as my husband, he looks great on my layout!

Here's a picture of him surrounded by me, our daughter and 2 of our grandchildren.

Never Too Old for Paper Dolls

Good morning and happy Tuesday!  Yes, it's true ... I still like to play with paper dolls.  Here are a couple of layouts of mine with stamped, colored & then cut out dolls.  I'm using both Julie Nutting and Santoro stamps here.

Washi Tape

Good morning! I hope that you had a fabulous weekend. Ours was filled with birthdays, balloons and delicious cupcakes. Our grandson Andrew turned 5 on Saturday and my husband Steve turned 62 yesterday.  His mom turned 91 as they share the same birthday.

I am amazed of the variety and popularity of washi tape. There is an entire aisle at Michael's just for it. They come in every color and size. I do not believe that I use it as much as I should.  I asked my husband to help me come up with a new technique for Washi tape.  He said "Maybe you can 'wash' it!"  Looks like he needs to take Scrapbooking 101 again!

Here's a layout I made over the weekend using some of my stash of washi tape. I used several different colors and patterns and made them into banners of varying lengths.  It was a lot of fun to make.

There are a ton of ideas on how to use washi tape on Pinterest, check them out. I hope I have inspired and challenged you to use this awesome product.  Have a fabulous and blessed Monday!

Peppa Pig

Good morning and happy Friday! My two granddaughters have become huge fans of a cartoon show called Peppa Pig.  It's about the adventures of a girl pig named Peppa along with her family and animal friends. It's very cute.  The pigs "snort" when they talk as in "I'm Peppa Pig (snort)."

Here are a couple of Peppa Pig layouts that I made.  Carolina insists that I made them for her.

Here are some photos from Madison's Peppa Pig themed birthday party last August.

Thanks for visiting my (snort) blog today!  Have a wonderful (snort) and blessed day.
