It's a happy Monday!

Good morning! Hope you had a great weekend.   These layouts are mostly done with My Minds Eye new collections. I just love the blues and browns together, such a great color combo.

We are on our way to Chicago today after an amazing weekend in Tampa with family and friends. We got to see Danny (my son) pitched against the Tampa Rays and even though the Jays lost Danny pitched amazing!!! We are sooo proud of him. We will get to be with him during his last 3 games of the season against the White Socks in the windy city. There is nothing like family and the love and support for each other.  Have a great and blessed day!

Good morning! Hope you are ready for the weekend. We are traveling to Tampa to see our son and to go to the baseball games Blue Jays vs Rays. Hope he gets to play!!!

This layout does have room for pictures...(ha, ha, ha). I intend to do an accordion book under the word "be".
I just loved the butterfly and had to scrap her!

Here is a close up. I added stickles, crackled and glossy accents, added some bling and popped her up.

The Bug Bytes Wednesday

Good morning! It's The Bug Bytes day for me today and I am bringing you a great project which I hope it inspires.  I call it the Stained Glass Butterfly.

Using the Tim Holtz Fanciful Flight die, cut out two each large and small solid wings in both acetate and sheet music.  (I use an old hymnal.  Many churches don't use hymnals anymore and have them stacked to the ceiling in a closet somewhere!)  Cut out two each large and small "membrane" wings in black cardstock.  Cut out the body (not pictured here) out of thick chipboard.

Put a drop of alcohol ink on the wings.  Notice how it flows differently on each wing.

Spread the ink blot around using a water brush filled with blending solution.  If the ink blot gets too big, you can always use some blending solution and a Q-Tip to remove some.

Experiment with different colors.  Don't worry if the pattern is not even between both wings.  That's part of the charm.

When the ink is dry, flip the wings over and glue the sheet music wings to the non-inked side.  Be sure to use a clear glue that will stick to the acetate.

Flip the wings back over and glue the "membranes" to the  inked side of the wings.

Ink the edges and front of the body and glue the wings to the back of the body.

When the wings are firmly attached, turn the butterfly back over and paint the body with Crackle Accents.  If you'd like, make some antennae out of soft wire.  (Actually, these can be glued to the back of the body at the same time you're attaching the wings.)

Voila! This butterfly adds a nice bit of color to your layout!

You can pen in a swirl from his tail to give the impression of motion.

Have a fabulous and blessed day!

Owls

Good morning! It's a happy Tuesday filled with owls on my layouts. I found this fun paper from http://www.adornit.com and had to use it right away! The owls are sooo cute and have many funny faces.

You can see them better in this picture.

These owls are from Create a Critter Cricut Cartridge.

Weekend in Mobile

Good morning! Hope you had a great weekend. I attended a fabulous scrapbooking event in Mobile sponsored by Scrapping Frenzy over the weekend. I got to teach two classes, be a vendor and also scrap with a group of amazing ladies from the area.  I also had the chance to meet the sweet and talented  Donna Salazar. She taught great projects and also showed her new line of spray mists, glitter, glue, spellbinders and papers. This is Donna wearing one of her beautiful hand-made paper flowers, Cheryl, one of the owners of Scrapping Frenzy and my friend Cathy holding one of Donna's pages.

This is one of the layouts I made over the weekend.

Have a great and blessed Monday!

She's a Sassy Lady Wednesday!

Good morning!  Today I am a guest designer at She's a Sassy Lady.  I created this layout which I want to describe step by step.  If you're familiar with my work you will notice that all of my layouts are two-page spreads.

I usually start with a base which is the same paper for both pages.   This base paper has a partial frame which becomes a larger frame when I flip one and put the two together.

To the base I add a 6 x 12 piece of pink polka dot paper on which I've used a Martha Stewart edge punch to create a ruffle.  Notice how I bridge the two base pages.

The red photo matte is glued to an 8 x 8 square doily.

The white butterfly is made out of chipboard which I embossed in white glitter.  It's mounted onto a scolloped circle punched out of glitter paper.  Underneath that are cut doilies and a pink printed doily.

I found out that when I want something to really stand out I layer, layer and layer. Doilies are perfect for this effect. The wooden flourish  is from Kaisercraft which I painted with acrylic paints.  You can see in the picture that the top is green and the edges are brown.

I then chose a floral print and cut out the individual flowers completely and then arranged them throughout the layout.  I used pop-up dots here-and-there.

The final touch is the name tag and the little girl peeking from behind the heart.

Hope you enjoy this step by step layout. Have a great and blessed day!

Going home....

Good morning! Time to go home today... it's very hard to say goodbye to baby Madison Rose. I will miss her midnight-hunger-cries, her sweet smile, her dirty diapers.....The good thing is that I will see her again in two weeks in Chicago!

This is our precious Madison Rose at the age of 10 days.

I had a chance to scrap a lot while in Vegas and I will be sharing them daily with all of you.  I love these papers! Do you see the angel embossed in cream above the printed papers? soooo pretty!

I had the perfect embellishments.... the metal angel and wings in gold. The branch is from Dusty Attics.

The gate, the flowers and butterflies are from Prima.

Have a great and blessed day!

Happy Monday!

Good morning! Hope you had a great weekend. I am still in Las Vegas visiting my grand-baby until tomorrow when I fly home. My daughter flew in for the weekend and we had a fabulous time with baby Madison Rose.

I made this page for pictures we took this weekend. Hope you can see the colors, they are so rich! Reds, pinks and turquoise together..... pretty combination. The hearts around the circle are from a Stampin' Up! punch.

Have a blessed and happy day!
