Blog Hop venezolano and SOUS tutorial

Good morning! I've been invited to participate in Monica's blog hop from Scrapandome con los recuerdos who is celebrating her second year anniversary with her scrapbooking and blogging adventures. Monica is from Venezuela and has invited Venezuelan scrapbookers from around the world to be part of it!

I was born in Venezuela, but moved to the U.S. when I was 17 years old. My hometown is Puerto Cabello, a major port city.  I could see the Caribbean Sea from my bedroom window.  The beaches in my town are beautiful, with lovely white sand and clear blue water. This is one of the beaches that I used to go to when I was little.

Maybe you have wondered where the name of Venezuela comes from. In the picture to the left, you can see houses over the water, in the Sinamaica lagoon (Zulia state), close to Maracaibo. When the first explorers arrived, those houses reminded them the city of Venice. That is why they called the region "Little Venice", which in Spanish would be Venezuela.

Beaches

ChoronĂ

Venezuela has wonderful beaches (playas), specially at the east (Playa Medina, Playa Colorada...), in the islands (Margarita, Coche...) and in the central-west region (Morrocoy, Tucacas, Cata, ChoronĂ).

In the Caribbean, north of Caracas, is located the Archipelago of Los Roques with its white sand beaches and its crystalline waters.

Cayo Sombrero - Morrocoy

This is the layout I made honoring the beautiful beaches of my home country. This is my husband and I 20 years ago during one of our wonderful trips .

You came from Nana at Scrap Caracas and your next stop is Paula at  Ideas y Creaciones Scrapbook. Hope you enjoy our blog hop and get to know my home country a little better. Thank you Monica for doing this hp and for showing off our fabulous country!

My tutorial at Stuck On Us Sketches is a flower made out of transparencies.

Supplies:
Transparency, rhinestones, a paper punch, paper, scissors and adhesive.

Step 1:
Punch a flower out of plain cardstock.  Use a temporary adhesive the secure a piece of transparency to the negative space of the flower.

Step 2:
Adhere rhinestones along the pattern, filling in the negative space.

Step 3:
Once the space is filled gently remove the transparency from the flower.

Step 4:
Trim around the flower image.

Step 5:
Voila! It is done and ready to use as your newly created embellishment.

Now you  have another great idea on how to make your own embellishments. Have a fabulous and blessed weekend!
